UPDATED
As of January 2006 the safest return
route to
Marco River Marina is as follows:
After transiting Capri Pass red markers two (2),
four (4) and six (6); mariners should leave the
Preferred channel marker (green over red) 50
yards to port. Then bear sharply to starboard
leaving the green marker nine (9), 20 to 50
yards to port. Then bear sharply to port
heading directly to green marker eleven (11).
Leave red markers twelve (12), and fourteen
(14) to starboard. After fourteen (14) follow
The starboard shore line thirty (30) yards off,
To green marker one (1), three (3) and five (5).
Leave these to port. After marker five (5), head
Straight to our five hundred (500) foot long
Concrete floating dock. Leave this dock twenty
(20) yards to port leading into our basin. The
Fuel dock will be to port. Basin depth is eight
(8) feet.
Note: Private soundings as of
January 2006 Indicate a mean lower low water of seven (7)
feet for this route. Larger draft vessels are advised to transit at
higher tides and/or use Local Pilots. |

Chart errors:
1. Charts dated through March of 2004 show a “Coconut Island” near
green marker nine (9). The Northern half of this island is no longer
visible at low tide. The channel between marker (9) and now
submerged portion of “Coconut Island” is less than 75 yards wide.
2. Since Hurricane Wilma of 2005, Factory bay alternate route, red
marker two (2) has shoaled at four (4) feet MLLW.
The area described above is subject to
continual change!
The prudent mariner is advised to use Caution. |
